A day to remember

St Catherine's Nursing Home hand hold visits

Today has been a day to remember at our St Catherine’s Nursing Home as it was the first time Stan has been able to hold his daughters hand since January last year.

It was an emotional reunion for all, with staff holding back tears. “It’s just so lovely to see her” said Stan as he was filling up “It’s not the same talking to her on the phone or through a window – I’m hopeless with stuff like that.”

Beaming with joy, Stan then broke into song before asking Linda why she was dressed to rob the bank – it’s good to see that Stan hasn’t lost that great sense of humour.

Stan came to live at St Catherine’s back in October after a spell in hospital. It was a difficult time for his family, as restrictions meant they weren’t able to visit and help Stan settle in to his new home. But Stan soon felt at home and now says he’s part of the fixtures.

Linda speaks with Stan every day and feels happy knowing her dad is safe and well-cared for but has missed seeing him in the flesh.  “It’s been an emotional day, I can’t tell you how much this means to me” said Linda “I want to thank all of the staff; they have been amazing and have acted very quickly and efficiently to the new rules.   It’s just wonderful to be able to hold dad’s hand again”.

We can’t wait to open our doors fully and welcome all our resident’s families and loved ones into our homes once again.
