We’ve had a huge boost for our nursing homes this week, as residents and staff at our St Catherine’s home in Newcastle, and our Holy Cross home in Sunderland received their Covid-19 booster jab.
With the first vaccinations arriving back in January, the boosters provide a real shot in the arm ahead of the coming winter. Over 80% of our residents have now received the booster jab in addition to their double vaccinations.
“It’s great to have been given our boosters so soon after they were announced,” said Maureen. “It definitely makes you feel that bit more protected.”
In fact, residents were so delighted with the booster, they even broke out into song. Our very own songbird of St Catherine’s, Mary, leading a chorus of Que Sera, Sera.
“It was such a nice atmosphere, it felt appropriate to join together for a bit of a sing-song and rejoice,” said Mary.
