Celebrate Foster Care Fortnight by becoming one of our foster carers

Fostering is very much on-topic as we mark Foster Care Fortnight.

If you think becoming a foster carer is for you but you don’t know where to start, why not come along for a chat with Claire and Lesley from our Fostering North East team at the community hub in Eldon Square, Newcastle this Friday, 17 May.

Leaflets and supporting information will be available at the stand to pick up and take away, or Claire and Lesley will be happy to answer your fostering questions. And, if you already know you’d like to foster, you can even start the application process there and then.

Our independent, not-for-profit fostering agency offers new carers all the training and support they need to become confident, successful carers to children from around our region who are unable to live with their own families.

We offer generous fostering allowances, friendly 24/7 help and advice and the support of our small team of experienced supervising social workers who each know you and the children you have in placement well. We even have a YoungStars group for fostered and birth children to enjoy fun together with events held during each school holiday; an annual panto trip; picnics and an annual pass for Beamish.

One of our current foster carers said, “When you tell people you are a foster carer, the reply is often: ‘I’ve always wanted to do that but …’ There’s no time like these next two weeks to take the first steps and I’d definitely recommend going along to talk to Fostering North East. They are like an extended family and support us and the children better than any other agency I know.”

You can visit our Fostering North East stand in Eldon Square’s community hub (next to the Food Court) between 10am and 3pm on Friday, 17 May.
