This month, our St Catherine’s nursing home has celebrated 20 years of caring for older people at its purpose-built home in Newcastle.

To mark the occasion, residents gathered in our home’s own chapel to take part in a special mass celebrated by regular visiting priest, Fr Endre.

Celebrations continued with our residents being joined by relatives, staff and visitors who all received a delicious cupcake treat, a glass of fizz or a cuppa of their choice.

Resident, Selma, was over-the-moon to join in a toast to her home. “I feel very privileged to be here for the home’s 20th birthday,” she said.

Also taking part in the celebrations were Lead Carers, Tamara and Lindsay who began working together the day the new home opened and are still working together to this day.

“Over the years, Lindsay and I have shared many happy, sad and challenging times,” said Tamara, “but our job is so rewarding – that’s probably how we’re still here 20 years later.”

Here’s to the next 20 years!
