Love, hearts and secrets

Lovingly crafted cards and hand-made badges are just some of the ways people around our services marked Valentine’s Day.

This year, sending cards or tokens of affection to someone special has been more important than ever for many of our service users who are still unable to see friends or hug loved ones.

“Making the cards gave our residents the opportunity to tell the special people in their lives how much they mean to them,” said our Holy Cross nursing home operations manager, Michelle. “We are lucky enough to have a visiting pod for relatives to safely visit our residents, but there can never be too many ways to say ‘you’re special’.”

Valentine’s Day also gave regulars from our Parkhead Resource Centre in Ashington an opportunity to send secret messages to friends they are missing whilst the centre remains closed.

“Everyone was able to decorate little boxes and badges at home which they could then send anonymously to their Parkhead friends,” said manager, Claire. “Our secret Valentines certainly spread lots of love and smiles and are sure to be a talking point in our next Zoom meet up.”
