Summer freshness is served

Our popular Browne’s café at the Alan Shearer Activity Centre is serving some of the freshest summer food around – thanks to the green fingered talents of our gardeners and volunteers.

Crops of lettuce, sage, parsley and chives grown in the Centre’s gardens and raised beds are being picked, washed, prepared and served as part of our delicious menu before you can say ‘fresh local produce’!

With our magnificent grounds boasting a wealth of wildlife, growing our own produce helps us to take care of the environment, but there’s another reason we like home grown, too.

“It tastes delicious,” said Julie, one of our Centre volunteers.

Next time you enjoy a summer meal in our café, let us know if you can taste the freshness.
