Turning sweet 16 is a special time in anyone’s life, but for one of our looked after young people it was made an extra special occasion when her birthday wishes came true.
Abbie, who lives in our Auton residential children’s home in Sunderland, really wanted a slumber party to mark her milestone birthday, so our staff made sure that’s exactly what she got – and more!
To get the party started, Abbie returned from school to find the house decorated with a magnificent balloon arch and birthday banners, and a party tea – complete with birthday cake – was laid out ready for everyone to enjoy.
Her presents included a bike, jewellery and a hairdryer as well as a birthday onesie to wear for her evening slumber party.
“Even though we still had to follow the latest Covid guidance, everyone had a great time – especially Abbie,” said manager, Jody Scott. “Birthdays haven’t always been the happiest of occasions for Abbie and it was lovely to see her beaming smiles as she marked her special birthday with her Auton family.”
