Rain didn’t stop play at our Holy Cross nursing home where our residents thoroughly enjoyed getting into the Wimbledon spirit.
It was game set and match for some of our residents who faced each other over their coffee table tennis court for a head-to-head with handmade paper plate rackets and a balloon ‘tennis ball’ – all in the traditional Wimbledon colours, of course.
“We may not be Roger Federer or Serena Williams,” said Francis, “but we still had a great time on our own Centre Court.”
And, after a hard day’s play, we hope they found time to unwind with some of the other favourite Wimbledon traditions – strawberries and cream and Pimm’s.
