Friends separated because of the pandemic have revived the art of letter writing to help them to keep in touch.
Before lockdown, strong friendships had sprung up between people living in our home in Alnwick and others living in our independent supported living apartments in Kenton, with regular visits, shared meals and lots of social activities enjoyed, too.
Being apart was difficult, so our Alnwick home manager, together with our staff teams, are helping to get a pen pal scheme underway to reunite the friends through their letters.
“We do have Zoom get-togethers when we can,” said manager, Susan, “but everyone agreed that writing letters was fun and thoughtful – and you can’t beat the feelings of excitement and anticipation when a letter drops through the letterbox!”
