A taste of Italy rounds off Rome trip

It was off to Rome for residents living in our Holy Cross nursing home in Sunderland where they enjoyed a virtual trip around many of the city’s famous landmarks from the comfort of their armchair.

Organised by our staff, the whistle-stop virtual tour included visits to the Trevi Fountain, The Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and St Mark’s Square before our residents enjoyed making their own pizzas for an Italian-inspired evening meal.

“Rome is such a beautiful city,” said Joan, “and it was lovely to be able to visit so much of it in one afternoon. When we added the delicious smell of home-made pizza, I could almost imagine I was there.”

Our Holy Cross residents have already enjoyed sightseeing in Australia – complete with a barbie meal – and are looking forward to where in the world they are going to visit next.
