It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of our patron Sir Bobby Robson, who passed away peacefully at his Durham home on Friday 31st July, following a long battle with cancer.
Bobby became ‘Sir Bobby’ in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2002 and a patron of St Cuthbert’s Care in 2003 when his wife, Lady Elsie, joined our Board of Directors, his arrival being marked with an appearance in a promotional video for the charity. He hosted a fund-raising Sportsman’s Dinner at St. James Park and continued to support us throughout his remaining years.
We thank him for his support and encouragement. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with him and his family.
