Our fundraising schools are a Class Act

Our innovative fund raising game for schools – The Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year, is now in full swing, with 17 teams taking part.

The idea of the game is that each team is given £250 seed money to invest in schemes they have devised themselves. They then have six months to make that investment grow as much as possible before it is handed back to the charity.

The rules are simple. Teams can use their business skills to fund any plan they choose, provided it is not contrary to the ethos of St Cuthbert’s Care. They must not exploit vulnerable people in any way; must not invest in products, services or companies which are illegal or may bring the charity into disrepute and they must not become involved in gaming or gambling. Apart from that, the only limitation is their imagination – and there seems to be no shortage of that judging by team names such as “Armadillo”, “Porcupine” and “St. Aidan’s Cornflake Education Dept.”

The game runs until April this year and our teams will be sending us regular updates on their activities. So look out for more news as the game progresses. If you would like more information, please contact Nicola Milne at  enquiries@stcuthbertscare.org.uk.

The winner will be announced at a special Celebration Day at the Alan Shearer Centre in July.
