Staff and young people at Auton Sunderland children’s home are celebrating after gaining their Anti-Bullying Accreditation bronze award.
The national initiative run by local authorities was primarily devised for schools but has been extended to other projects which work with children and young people.
To achieve the award everyone at Auton Sunderland had to show they could meet eight stringent criteria including creating an anti-bullying working party, operating a peer support scheme, co-operating in anti-bullying awareness day and having well established staff training.
Home Manager Jody Ager said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded the bronze standard; it’s a great recognition of the work staff and our young people are doing to ensure we have a safe and happy home environment. We’re not far off our silver award now and, of course, our ambition is to achieve the gold accreditation.”
