Auton Villa in Newcastle, one of St Cuthbert’s Care’s children’s homes, has just celebrated its first birthday.
With a Birthday cake, candles and decorations the six residents and members of staff threw a small party in celebration of the year that they’ve had.
Manager Chris Walker said: “It’s been a fun year. We’ve had a full house of young people who have all been able to access local education, they’ve enjoyed a trip to Blackpool, experienced an overnight stay in a wooden wigwam in Berwick plus the usual local community activities such as bowling, swimming and cinema trips. One of our young people is now moving into her own flat so we’re helping her furnish and decorate it – it’s lovely to see her becoming so independent. We’re now looking forward to a good second year.”
