Service users at Parkhead Resource Centre, Ashington, are hoping to raise pots of money for their summer outings this year by holding six round-the-world Bistro Nights. Starting with a good old British pie and pea supper this month they will then follow-up with an Italian, American, Indian, Mexican and Chinese nights, with an aim to raise £100 from each event.
“Our service users thought up the ideas of the Bistro Nights during one of our monthly meetings and we’re all really looking forward to them,” said Resource Centre Manager Jackie Dunn. “Activities like this give our users a sense of achievement, gain work experience, raise their self-esteem and of course they have fun into the bargain. If we raise enough funds we would like to go on four summer outings this year, which will be a first for Parkhead.”
The British Night will be held at the Resource Centre on Tuesday April 17th from 5pm to 7pm. Tickets cost £5 per head and includes a free Bingo card and music by local singer Bill Fenwick. Please telephone Jackie on 01670 855561 if you would like to book a ticket.
