Parkhead Resource Centre’s Bistro Nights got off to a fantastic start recently with £180 raised from their first event alone.
Forty service users and guests attended the British pie and pea supper which came with the added fun of a sing-a-long with local entertainer Bill Fenwick.
The event was the first of six round-the-world Bistro Nights to raise money for summer outings; the next one will be an Italian night to take place this June.
Resource Centre Manager Jackie Dunn said: “The event went really well and we had a great turn-out. We were only expecting to raise about £100 from each event so to raise almost twice that on our first night was a fantastic achievement. If we continue at this rate we will be well on our way to achieving a first for Parkhead – four summer outings.”
Parkhead in Ashington is a joint project with Northumberland County Council and provides a day service for adults with learning disabilities in a safe, friendly and stimulating environment. It has 40 registered users and serves up to 25 people a day.
