Foster care proves to be an adventure

Fostering North East arranged an exciting day out at Adventure Valley in Durham this month for some of our foster families. The trip was one of the organisation’s occasional events allowing families’ foster and birth children to spend some time together in a relaxed and informal setting.

The day at the western-style ranch and farm included digging for gold, feeding animals, quad bike riding and enjoying the bouncy play area. The weather was perfect all day which meant that everyone could have a picnic lunch together, outdoors around one large table.

Days out such as this are an important part of Fostering North East’s support plan for carers; freeing-up time for them to attend training sessions, knowing that the children are safe and having fun.

Fostering North East are currently recruiting new carers to help meet a growing local demand for both long and short term fostering; carers who can devote their time and love to teenagers and sibling groups are particularly sought after.
