Family and friends joined Holy Cross residents last weekend for the home’s Christmas Fair. The event was a great success with stalls selling cakes, crafts, books and toys.
A surprise visit by Santa and his elves delighted visiting grandchildren, especially as he brought some early Christmas presents for them and for the residents. The tombola stall was well supported, as was the raffle and a grand total of £429 was raised on the day. The money will be added to the home’s fund for festive entertainment and for outings in the new year.
Holy Cross was crowded with visitors again on Tuesday afternoon for a Christmas carol service in the chapel. Singing was led by students from St Anthony’s Girls Catholic Academy in Sunderland and by the Jubilee Choir, formed for the occasion by residents of the home.
Thank you to everyone who attended both events and don’t worry if you missed Santa on Saturday. There is another chance to meet him at 4.30pm on Tuesday 18 December when he will be arriving on his sleigh with more gifts, courtesy of Sunderland Lions. Everyone is welcome.
We would like to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and we hope you will be able to join us again for Mass in our chapel on Christmas Eve at 4.30pm.
