Residents of St Catherine’s Care Home attended a special “invitation only” carol service at St James’ Church in Newcastle last Sunday as guests of the Royal British Legion. The Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers supplied the music before mingling with guests and helping to serve mulled wine and mince pies.
St Catherine’s Activity Co-ordinator, Richard Dobbinson, said, “A number of our residents served in the armed forces many years ago, during the days of National Service, so they really enjoyed chatting with the Fusiliers and comparing experiences.”
“I would like to thank everyone involved for making us so welcome; especially Keith Laws from the Royal British Legion who invited us and who has a number of events planned for next year which we are really looking forward to.”
