Holy Cross Gains a Gold

Sunderland City Council has awarded Holy Cross Nursing and Residential Care Home the top award in its Quality Standards Process.

The home, which has been part of St Cuthbert’s Care since July last year, obtained the gold rating in its first six months of operation under the charity’s management.

“We are thrilled to be given the gold rating,” said Manager, Amanda Head. “It proves we have been able to manage a smooth transition period and maintain the high standards of care fostered by the Little Sisters. It’s always satisfying to be recognised and rewarded for our good work” she added.

Care homes for older people in the borough are assessed by Sunderland Social Care Governance team, which operates a points system for each category it monitors. The assessment is wide ranging, covering areas such as residents’ care plans, staffing, health and safety, environment and meals.

Holy Cross exceeded the overall score of more than 75% required to gain a gold award, and will continue to provide the high standards of care required to keep our gold award.

We still have a limited number of nursing and residential vacancies, if you are interested in finding out more about Holy Cross Care Home, or to arrange a visit, please call us on 0191 228 8000.
