Geometry met art when a group of residents from St Catherine’s got together to make colourful, 20-sided lanterns to decorate the home.
Regional artist, Pui Lee arrived with paper plates, strips of coloured paper, glue and plenty of creative flair to help each resident contribute their own, unique design. As well as enjoying exploring their artistic side, there were plenty of smiles all round when the residents learned that their lantern’s 20-sided shape is actually called an icosahedron!
The craft session is one of the many daily activities offered at St Catherine’s which help keep residents active and interested and provide them with opportunities to try out new hobbies or pastimes.
Over the coming weeks residents will create five more lanterns, which will all be stored safely until next year when they will have pride of place as part of St Catherine’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
