Residents at St Catherine’s had a new act drop in recently for her rendition of some classic songs from crooners like Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland.
Mitsie, from Sunderland, brought a touch of glamour to the afternoon as she was dressed in an eye-catching, sparkly, chiffon outfit when she called into our Newcastle nursing home for a 40s style singalong. Everyone’s favourite Somewhere Over the Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz was a highlight of the routine.
Meanwhile, as well as giving new acts the chance to perform for residents, the home’s Activities Co-ordinator, Richard Dobinson has been lining up some popular return shows in the run up to Christmas.
“Jim and Val, known as Jiva have just come back from America and they’ll be back playing some of the songs they write themselves. Their style of folk music is always well received,” said Richard.
“In November/December Harmonica Dave will be performing, I’m booking a magician and there will be a host of things going on,” he added. “There are still details to be finalised but we know that Wendy Chin’s tai chi sessions will have a regular monthly slot.”
