The festive season kicked off this weekend with a Christmas fayre at St Catherine’s raising over £300 for the home’s activities fund.
Being the last day of November advent calendars sold like hotcakes, as did the actual cakes and home baked scones! The tombola stall was also particularly popular with the residents, relatives and visitors who popped into the home on Saturday afternoon to stock up on gifts and seasonal wares.
This Saturday, 7 December, Holy Cross home in Sunderland will be holding its fayre from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Among the attractions there will be a book stall, tombola, raffle for a Sunderland shirt, and a guess the weight of the Christmas cake competition. Santa will be calling in with sweets for the children and there will be broth and a bun on offer, as well as traditional mince pies and coffee. Everyone is welcome.
