A volunteer with the Alive Lunch Club in Bensham spent her birthday helping others.
Volunteer, Julie, is one of a close-knit group of volunteers running Alive Lunch Club in St Chad’s Church hall every Thursday where local people can always find a warm welcome, lots of friendly conversation, fun activities and a freshly prepared hot lunch.
Julie was happy to put her birthday celebrations on hold to help out at the lunch club, but guests and her fellow-volunteers surprised her by presenting her with a special card signed by everyone and sang ‘Happy Birthday’, which put the biggest smile on her face.
