Care homes show some respect with ‘Digni-tea’

St Cuthbert’s Care has been marking this year’s Dignity Action Day at our residential homes for older people.

The National Dignity Council’s annual initiative encourages a public dialogue about respect for people in care and our St Catherine’s and Holy Cross homes both embraced the concept over a cuppa and some musical entertainment.

On Friday St Catherine’s welcomed Carol Brown, Best Practice and Registered Manager for Dementia Care, to speak at the home during their afternoon teatime and on Saturday 1 February, the designated Dignity Action Day, at the Holy Cross cream tea residents, relatives and friends were invited to write down their thoughts on dignity.

Stephen Brown made a return visit to St Catherine’s to play guitar and sing while vocalist Carol Lee performed at Holy Cross.

Activities planned for February include a Chinese New Year celebration in our Newcastle home and some romantic musical entertainment for Valentine’s day.
