St Catherine’s residents have been commemorating our English saint’s day and the birthday of England’s most famous writer, William Shakespeare, this week.
Activities Co-ordinator, Richard Dobinson, organised a series of themed events on 23 April including a quiz about St George, a talk about his history, a quintessentially English sing-along and a reading of some of the Bard’s best loved poems.
The literary motif is set to continue at our Newcastle care home with the publishing of our own writings in the form of The Weekly Sparkle newsletter which Richard piloted this week.
The Sparkle includes what happened on this day reminiscences, puzzles and a timetable of St Catherine’s activities. First issues are scheduled to be delivered to every resident from next week.
