Sixth formers who have been volunteering at St Catherine’s say the experience has taught them a lot.
The volunteers from Central High and Sacred Heart schools in Newcastle have been assisting the care home’s activities coordinator, Richard Dobinson, during events, games and bingo sessions. In a thank-you card for Richard they expressed how much they enjoyed the experience.
“It’s been a pleasure getting to know the residents. We’ll miss them very much and are sad that our volunteering is coming to an end,” Central High girls Davina, Amelia, Genevieve and Annabel said. “We’ve learnt so much from you and will take away a lot from the experience.”
Richard said that it was great for both him and our residents to have the regular help and input which the pupils provided.
