Our Al makes it onto the Happy List 2014

A life of riches can be manifest in many ways and our Fostering North East team member Al Coates has a national nomination to prove it.

Al, together with his wife Paula, is included in the exclusive Independent on Sunday’s Happy List 2014 (NOT the Rich List) as recommended by its readers for “people who, without thought of personal gain, give back and help others”.

The Fostering North East worker was nominated for his free-time efforts championing adoption and offering advice to those considering it. Al and Paula have six adopted children, aged between two and 20, and were put forward for the list by the British Association for Adoption and Fostering who dubbed the couple “an inspiration”.

The newspaper’s list of 100 nominees was founded as an antidote to celebrity files and rich lists in order to celebrate a different set of values. It includes charity workers, volunteers and those who promote worthy causes.

Fostering North East Manager, Sarah Croft, said: “We are very proud of Al’s national achievement and appreciate the expertise, advice and childcare experience he brings to work.”

You can see Al’s mention in this week’s Independent on Sunday’s full list of people who make life better for others article.
