Singing Hosanna at St Catherine’s

Songs of praise were ringing out at St Catherine’s this week.

Residents of the Newcastle care home were in fine voice as they joined in with their renditions of popular hymns accompanied by a taped musical soundtrack.

Jack Kilday, St Catherine’s activities assistant, organised the afternoon singing session of some religious favourites including All Things Bright and Beautiful, Give Me Joy in My Heart and Ave Maria and invited pastoral care coordinator, Nicola Milne, to join in with the singing.

After a break mid-session for refreshments the afternoon concluded with some of the residents’ request tunes.

More hymn sing-alongs are planned for St Catherine’s and invitations for particular favourites are always considered!

Meanwhile, members of St Cuthbert’s Choir in Sunderland will be visiting Holy Cross Care Home on Monday to lead residents there in songs of praise.
