Sweet memories for our care homes

Our Holy Cross and St Catherine’s residents are set for a taste of nostalgia with some sweet treats coming their way.

At our Sunderland home today (Thursday) activities coordinator, Clare Quinn, has organised a “memory lane bingo session” when she will be passing round some old fashioned sweets to share and jog some childhood memories.

While on Tuesday, 9 September, St Catherine’s activities coordinator, Richard Dobinson, has invited Christine Green from Two-at-a-Time sweets to bring her old fashioned confectionery for sale at the home.

Christine will provide a selection of old-time favourites including cinder toffee, ginger creams, rosy apples, liquorice wheels and more, all available in clear cellophane at 50p per bag.

“At the homes I have visited the residents and staff have thoroughly enjoyed themselves remembering some of their classic favourites when they were youngsters,” says Christine.

Everyone is welcome to visit St Catherine’s from 2.30pm on Tuesday to buy a bag of black bullets, aniseed balls or midget gems and take their taste buds on a trip back in time!
