The Alan Shearer Foundation is saying a great big thank-you to everyone who took part in this weekend’s Great North Run on behalf of the charity.
The Foundation had 12 athletes running in the iconic half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields in the year that saw the one millionth participant cross the finish line since the inaugural event in 1981.
“It was really hot this year,” said Sarah Croft, who has taken part in every Great North Run but one in the last 18 years. “It was still good fun, though!” she added.
