St Catherine’s residents are set to debate whether Scotland should stay part of the United Kingdom.
The home’s activities coordinator, Richard Dobinson, will be holding a ballot for residents, visitors and staff on Thursday 18 September, the day the Scots go to the polls to vote on the future of the country.
“We have a few residents who were born in Scotland and everyone can have an opinion on whether we should stay united so I thought it would be a great idea to hold our own ballot,” said Richard. “It’s good to be able to debate something topical and I’m sure it will create some interesting talking points.”
So that everyone is in the mood Richard will be decorating the Newcastle home with the Union Flag and the Scottish Saltire and, in true democratic form, all residents will be invited to cast their vote either in favour or against independence for Scotland.
