Our resident Holy Cross pianist, Bernie Crowley, has been “tickling the ivories” again as our Sunderland nursing care home tunes up for some songs of praise this week.
Bernie regularly plays the home’s upright piano for the residents during singalongs from a music book with over one hundred popular tunes, which she knows off by heart.
“She’s a fab pianist and I think we’re really lucky to have her to play,” says the home’s activities coordinator, Clare Quinn. In fact, Clare knows Bernie from her youth as she was her music teacher at school!
A special rendition of favourite hymns is being held this afternoon (Monday) at Holy Cross in a songs of praise session. All are welcome to join in the singing.
