Shoppers at Asda’s store in Ashington have helped give our Parkhead Resource Centre members a musical treat.
Parkhead received a cheque from Asda for £50 after it was nominated in the store’s token collection scheme to be used to book entertainment for their next social event.
Parkhead’s Newsletter Group reported how grateful they were to shoppers: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us by putting their green tokens into our charity box at Ashington Asda over the past couple of months.”
Although it was not awarded the top prize the funds were still very welcome and have been used to book an Elvis Presley tribute act to perform at a Rock Night on 17 November at St Aidan’s Church in Ashington.
The event starts at 5.30pm when there will be a buffet and disco. Tickets, priced £6 each, are available from Nicola Johnson at Parkhead and anyone who wishes to attend is recommended to bring a carer to accompany them.
