Care home residents in Sunderland enjoyed New Year’s eve entertainment from musical duo Jiva to help welcome the start of 2015.
The couple, Jim and Val, regularly appear at both St Cuthbert’s Care’s nursing homes, and always prove popular with their blend of singing performances and banter.
“We would have them back as the songs were lovely and everyone enjoyed them, although they ran over time and by the time they were finished everyone was desperate for a cuppa!” said Holy Cross activities coordinator, Clare Quinn.
Residents at the home have had a busy festive period with a range of activities and visiting acts. Another of the highlights was entertainment from Kayley Cares who was very well received.
“She sang several of her usual songs but included a few Christmas favourites like Silent Night and the Twelve Days of Christmas with the residents divided between the 12 days and then she handed out sleigh bells to be handed out during certain songs,” said Clare.
Holy Cross residents have already made their 2015 calendars during a craft session and Clare says she will be getting the phone book out this week to fill in some dates and book acts for the year.
“We are going to try Allen Cutler, the “one man music hall” as I know he is a big favourite at St Catherine’s and was great at their Christmas party,” she said.
