Spanning the generations and the globe

Photos of little five-month-old, William Devlin, posing with his great grandfather, Robert Scott have been flown across the Atlantic this week to show his American cousins.

William came with his grandmother, Pat McGregor, to St Catherine’s to visit Robert, who is 97 years his senior, and had their picture taken together by the home’s activities coordinator, Richard Dobinson.

Pat has now travelled to Los Angeles, California, with the photos to visit her daughter Helen and two more of Robert’s great grandchildren, Dominic and Vincent Casper, aged four and two.

“Bob has had a very interesting life. He was stationed in the desert during World War II where he translated Morse code messages,” says Richard.

“Our residents have some great personal experiences and stories to share with each other and down the generations,” he added.

Robert also has a fourth great grandchild, 19-year-old Robin, who is currently studying at Leeds University.
