A musical duo certainly lived up to its aim of “creating joy through live music” when they visited our Holy Cross nursing home.
Fiddle player Andy Kain along with accordionist Leonard Brown had their audience at our Sunderland care home calling for more during their visit as part of the Music in Hospitals charity organisation.
“I haven’t seen such a positive reaction from our residents,” said Holy Cross activities coordinator Clare Quinn. “They played a wide range of songs including 1940s war songs, country, folk, rock ‘n’ roll and even asked for requests.”
When a Polish resident asked for a tune they duly obliged with a rendition of the country’s national anthem!
“Everyone was toe tapping and clapping and the hour flew by. I have already been asked when they can return,” said Clare.
The performance was provided free by the MiH charity volunteers so Clare says she has no guarantees of being able to book another date soon as demand is so high for their services.
