Residents have been having a “right royal” week at our St Catherine’s nursing home in Newcastle.
Activities coordinator, Richard Dobinson, has been pitting the wits of our residents during some discussions and quizzes with an English theme in celebration of the Queen’s 89th birthday and St George’s Day this week.
On display at the home were some quintessentially English artefacts and memorabilia including an afternoon tea service, photos of the queen as a child with the royal family, St George’s flags and some bunting.
Coming soon Richard will be talking politics as he plans to open up some debate in the lead up to the general election on May 7 but will be getting the flags out once again with an extra special street party-style celebration of the VE Day 70th anniversary!
