Holy Cross springs into action

Residents at our care home in Sunderland have been having a very merry month of May – from enjoying strolling through the park to hosting an Irish dance troupe!

While some Holy Cross residents have chosen to go out and about on excursions to Mowbray Park and Winter Gardens or the National Glass Centre, there has also been a variety of events and entertainment taking place at the home itself this month.

“St Anthony’s Girls School choir were absolutely marvellous on Thursday and have already agreed to come back at Christmas,” said the home’s activities coordinator, Clare Quinn. “We had McElvogue School of Irish Dancing here on Saturday afternoon and they really wowed the residents. It was a packed house with a record number of residents coming to see them!”

And there is still more to come right up to the end of the month, when Holy Cross will be holding a “Mini Spring Fayre” this Saturday, 30 May, between 11.30am and 1.30pm. There will be books, cakes and toys stalls, a bottle tombola and a raffle for a food hamper. If anyone has any donations for the fayre, please contact Clare at Holy Cross Home on 0191 567 0862.
