Rain cloud has silver lining for residents

Rain didn’t stop play for Holy Cross residents who were planning a mini bus excursion to the coast, they simply made the most of a grey day.

When wet weather threatened a planned trip to the seaside Activities Coordinator, Clare Quinn, switched the itinerary for an inland venue. Instead, the group headed for Clay’s Garden Centre in Washington where there are plenty of departments to browse undercover and the café is spacious enough to accommodate wheelchair users easily.

“We were right to change our plans as a little shower started just as we were getting off the bus,” said Clare.

“The residents enjoyed the trip. A couple of them bought plants for their bedrooms and we are now going to use it as our rainy day alternative!” she added.

Our Holy Cross home residents have been enjoying range of local excursions already this summer, including trips to the National Glass Centre, Mowbray Park and, when the weather is fine, to the seaside!
