The gorgeous, tree-lined setting of Parkhead Day Centre in Ashington, our day service for adults with learning disabilities, means there’s lots of work to do when the leaves start to fall.
One of our service users, Michael, loves helping to keep our day centre neat and tidy, so when the leaves began to mount up, he couldn’t wait to get outside with a shovel to bag all the colourful leaves.
Michael has been coming to Parkhead since it first opened and is always one of the first to volunteer to help keep everywhere looking its best.
“Michael loves to be helpful and has turned his hand to most things, including helping out on reception,” said Parkhead manager, Nicola Johnson. “He takes great pride in the centre and got such a sense of achievement from making our grounds look spick and span again.”
