Parkhead members help make festival a real Thriller

Stage-struck members of our Parkhead Day Centre in Ashington have been strutting their stuff at the Headway Arts Space in Blyth as part of the Come On Down Festival.

They joined local performing arts groups for people with learning disabilities from around the country for the three day festival of drama, dance, singing and theatre workshops.

Parkhead Support Worker, Hannah Chapple, said, “Our performers had put in lots of time and effort to perfect their routine and, on the day, they gave it 100%. We performed a ‘Monster Mash-up’ which was a mixed up medley of ‘Thriller’ and ‘Heads Will Roll’. We also took part in games and magic tricks and some of us even got to try some stand-up comedy by telling some jokes! It was a lovely opportunity for everyone to catch up with old friends and make new ones.”

The group get plenty practice performing their routines at Parkhead’s fairs throughout the year and are already planning their next spectacular.
