St Catherine’s resident, Helen Thompson, couldn’t wait to show off her baking skills after a chat with a staff member highlighted the declining quality of shop-bought cheese scones!
John Burns, who works in the home as a Domestic, always finds time to chat to residents as he goes about his work and when the conversation turned to cheese scones, John was quick to point out his disappointment with a recent purchase.
Helen, however, was just as quick to respond with a solution. After a word with the home’s Activity Co-ordinator, Kat, ingredients were gathered and the great St Catherine’s bake-off began, with some of the other residents joining in, too.
When the scones were still warm from the oven, Helen waited proudly for John to arrive to put them to the taste test.
“Absolutely gorgeous!” said John. “I couldn’t believe it when Helen said she was going to make some of her scones, but she certainly seemed to enjoy making them and I definitely enjoyed eating them!”
And, like all good home baking, the rest of the tasty pastries disappeared super quick with fellow residents enjoying the extra tea-time treats.
