The first signs of spring are appearing in the garden of our Holy Cross Nursing Home in Sunderland, which gave Activities Co-ordinator, Clare Quinn, an idea for a day out for some of the residents.
She booked the charity’s minibus to take them on a trip to Clay’s Garden Centre in Washington, which is just a short ride from the home – unless driver, Michael, chooses a scenic route as he did this time.
After a good look round the new season’s bedding plants and shrubs, it was into the café to round off the trip with tea and scones.
Clare said, “This is our most popular trip out, with a lovely drive taking the scenic route. Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. We can only take a small group each time, so we are having several similar trips over the next few months so no one misses out.“
