Parkhead, our day centre for people with learning disabilities in Ashington, is about to burst into bloom after an impressive garden makeover.
People attending the centre have already worked with our staff to put their ideas on paper, creating some imaginative and colourful garden designs.
With funding raised at Christmas and at their Easter fair, they’ve shopped for plants, bulbs and garden furniture and are now starting to see their project take shape.
Service user, Sharon Briggs, couldn’t have been more excited when the bird bath she hoped would be included in the plans actually arrived at Parkhead and was given pride of place.
“As soon as the bird bath was placed outside, Sharon was out there with her jug of water to make sure it was filled and ready to attract some feathered friends,” said Parkhead Manager, Claire Graham. “She was so excited!”
With the new benches in place and planting complete, everyone is now waiting for the bulbs to bloom and the plants to spring up – and some fine weather so they can enjoy it all!
