Church trip is a highlight for our residents

The drab weather certainly didnt dampen the spirits of our Holy Cross Nursing Home residents when they took one of their regular trips out to St Peter’s Church in Monkwearmouth.

The church is a favourite place to visit and our residents have struck up quite a friendship with many of the volunteers who help out at the church.

“We always get a lovely, warm welcome when we visit,” said Holy Cross activity co-ordinator, Clare Quinn, “so it never matters what the weather is doing!”

After spending time in prayer in the heart of the church, our residents, staff and volunteer rounded off their trip by enjoying tea and scones in the café.

“Everyone in our group was so pleased to make this one last trip before the church closes for some restoration work,” added Clare. “I’m sure we’ll all be returning as soon as it re-opens.”
