Once in an lifetime celebration for 90 year old Norma

Excitement is building for one of our Holy Cross residents as the date of the Queen’s official birthday draws closer.

Nonagenarian, Norma Johnson, who lives in our Sunderland nursing home, has received a very special invitation to mark the Queen’s official birthday after her sister, Rita, put her name forward for a very exclusive event.

Organised by Sunderland City Council, the invitation-only tea party will be held on June 10th at Sunderland’s Museum and Winter Gardens.

“Nominations were open to anyone born in Sunderland in 1926,” said Holy Cross manager, Cynthia Agbo, “so you can imagine how excited we all were when we found out Norma had received one of the invitations!”

Norma will be accompanied by Rita at the once-in-a-lifetime event and both are already making the most of the occasion by spending time together browsing and shopping for exactly the right outfit.
