Our clever service users at Parkhead Resource Centre in Ashington are all on board with a special project to mark the arrival of the Tall Ships Regatta in Blyth this summer.
Regulars at our specialist centre for adults with learning disabilities have plundered discarded items like jar lids, cardboard and CDs to craft their very own tall ship after being inspired by the famous nautical event.
Although their ship is more suited to dry land, everyone at the Centre is hoping it will still receive its fair share of attention when the real ships arrive in August.
“We’re hoping our ship can be displayed in Blyth’s tourist information centre or the local library,” said Parkhead Manager, Claire Graham. “Everyone has worked really hard to make our ship and I know they’d be so proud to see it on show for others to see. It looks fantastic!”
