When bad weather scuppered Holy Cross residents’ plans for a trip to Roker they were determined not to abandon their day out.
Instead of a stroll along the sea front, they headed to Washington to take in a bit of culture at the Arts Centre. Unfortunately, several small studios that make bespoke items like personalised pottery and wedding hats were closed, so it was into the café for tea and biscuits.
Activities Co-ordinator, Clare Quinn, said, “Residents, Mike and Bob, would have spent all afternoon in the café given the choice. We all call them the Chuckle Brothers because they are as thick as thieves and always game for a laugh. Belle, on the other hand, really enjoyed the exhibition by the people from Shelter, which she thought was very ‘thought provoking’.”
“I think we’ll have to look at going back on a Saturday morning when they have their ‘Art Mart’ selling local art and crafts.”
