Service users at our Parkhead Resource Centre in Ashington have been making the most of the glorious weather to bring a splash of colour to their building and grounds.
Earlier in the year, they put in lots of hard work planting out the garden and the hanging baskets. Now they have been giving everything a good tidy-up, making sure everything is looking its best for their 20th anniversary celebration this Friday. Weeds have been uprooted, paths swept, and wood chip put down.
The Parkhead centre, which is a partnership between St Cuthbert’s Care and Northumberland Care Trust, provides stimulating leisure and educational activities for adults with learning disabilities. Their annual Summer Fair is always well supported by families, friends and neighbours, but this year it’s just that extra bit special.
Centre Manager, Claire Graham, said, “The grounds are looking great and we hope everyone will join us on Friday 29 July for our 20th anniversary celebration. There will be all the usual stalls with cakes and crafts. We will have games and a raffle – and the local fire brigade will be there with one of their tenders. The star of the show though will probably be Nelly the donkey, who will be on hand to prune our trees again!”
